PERSONALITY |
Lili is filled to the brim with endless charisma. One of the first things anyone will notice about her upon meeting for the first time is that she warms up quickly and is an unparalleled social butterfly. She loves meeting new people and making new friends, but finds herself lacking natural suspicion and wariness that would otherwise guard her against strangers that mean to do her harm. Despite desiring her own independence, this feeling growing from a dislike of being a burden on her family and the general fact that she is growing up, she nonetheless needs someone who can point her in the right direction, as she is protected from the mistakes that would teach her about the world she surrounds herself with. Though perhaps much too shy to go up to a random person for a conversation she will, seemingly pleased, happily reply to inquiries directed to her by people she doesn't know, and never spares a second or third thought to whether or not such a person might be dangerous. Lili's experience in the outside world is very limited. An overbearing older brother who shields her innocence from corruption has had a detrimental effect on her ability to understand and adapt to the world outside her doors. This is issue she one day hopes to remedy. On the flipside, much of her intelligence she has learned herself through the reading of books, but of course books are not always a proper substitute for real-life experiences. She tries and improves herself as a pace she hopes is adequate for her somewhat stunted development, but in contrast to her brother's crippling distrust of others Lili has rejected his overly paranoid nature in favor of a more open world view, in which most people are good and there are very few evil people to speak of. After all, in stories evil never triumphs and logically evil must be a thing with a very weakened grasp on the rest of the world. She is a very trusting individual, but therein lies one of her greatest downfalls. An eternal optimist, Lili believes substantially in the good that is doubtless inside of all people, regardless of how evil they may seem. She seems to be incapable of believing that any one person cannot commit some sort of good - in that belief also lies the belief that all people deserve at least a chance of redemption. Shattering her belief in this inner light, however, is not a difficult task, but more often than not she'll go to the end continuing to hope against all odds that one's better side will shine through adversity. Assuming she survives through the ordeal one can be assured that she will likely never trust such a person again. Unfortunately, she learns this through trial and error, preferring to give chances to all instead of distrusting all. For some reason or another, Lili has the type of personable exterior that simply draws people to her and opens them up. Lili doesn't know what it is about her that people just open up to - nor does she complain. An intensive listener, Lili loves hearing people talk about themselves, much more than she enjoys talking about herself save bonding over certain hobbies. Sometimes having someone to listen to is helpful for people, and this is a position Lili often finds herself in, and she is willing to give help (or advice, but she's really just best as a rant sponge for her advice is not always good) if anyone should never need it. To be able to put a smile on the face of the people she meets is something that gives her a lot of joy and if people trust her, then why not give them the benefit of having someone to confide in? Just as long as she doesn't have to divulge her most secret of secrets. Lili is always on her best behavior and strives to be as polite as possible. She finds a fair share of difficulty in maintaining this demeanor if she happens to encounter someone of a particularly uncalled-for rudeness. Lili typically attempts to cooperate with such attitudes anyway, as resistance usually only makes those kind of situations worse. She does not like being walked over, though, and if pushed to the brink of her tolerance she will fight back – but don’t worry, she will do so as gracefully and nicely as she possibly can… usually with a light slap on the wrist and a stern talking-to. A stern talking-to might be all one needs, for Lili is an eloquent young lady who has a way with her words. Though not as initially outspoken as some others might be, Lili can be quite precocious when she wants to me, particularly when it comes to matters of recitation or speaking in the defense of another. An avid reader, Lili makes up for her ignorance of experience with booksmarts, and can recite facts she's learned the second she is asked. That said, she does not stutter or stammer when she speaks and has a slight air of maturity. Constantly tormented with the fact she'll always look several years younger than she actually is, Lili makes full use of her voice and her vocabulary and confidence when conveying her own opinions may surprise others. That is, of course, when countered with the potential of love or relationships. Living in a house where such endeavors are effectively squelched, Lili both desires and has absolutely no experience in matters of the heart. As much as Lili loves her fairy tales, they aren't usually very good interpretations of what love is like in the real world. Lili fully expects to find a prince who will sweep her off her feet - prince not literally meaning a rich royal, but a man of equal grace and chivalry whose goal is to rescue the fair young maiden. Lili is a very clean person, preferring neat, orderly surroundings to any form of chaos. Lili prevents messes from happening as much as she can, and if messes do happen she cleans them up immediately. She is organized and has every item she owns in a very specific order, and cannot stand to see any of her belongings strewn around. She is silently displeased with people who cannot be like her in this need for neatness, but will politely keep it to herself and refrain from cleaning or criticizing. Her clothes are kept in a similar orderly manner. Always clean, always ironed, always folded neatly away and kept in a drawer or in a closet. If there is ever a mess present neat Lili Zwingli, there is obviously something very wrong with her. She's observant and pays careful attention to her surroundings. This focus on detail goes hand-in-hand with her need for order, as her eyes are able to meticulously pick out the smallest details that might be wrong. She applies this attention to detail to all facets of her life, from relationships to the way she lives. The people she cares get very special treatment from her. She reserves a chunk of her attention for the people closest to her, and she offers a lot of it. She has a very expressive face and equally expressive eyes. Her emotions are always plain in her face and in her voice. She wears her emotions on her sleeve and isn’t afraid to show someone how she feels about a situation. She has little control over her emotions and thus making her express anything is a very easy task, crying included. When one decides they wish to upset the little lady they should be prepared for the torrent of tears that will emerge to greet them. On the upside, this also means cheering her up is equally easy, as she is an easily amused individual who, when laughing, tends to go all out with her joy. Gauging how she feels about a certain situation is an effortless endeavor if one simply watches her face and body language. Nervousness is often signified by the biting of her lip, lies can be detected by that subtle aversion of her eyes in another direction, unable to look her partner in the face when cornered. Lili's eyes often give away when she is trying to lie. Because catching her in fibs or deceit is rather easy, Lili has come to the conclusion that it is no longer worth trying to deceive anyone, even if it's for small things, to try and escape the potential for embarrassment. Even more than this, she refuses to lie out of a moral obligation. Lili trusts people to be truthful with her. After all, what reason would anyone have to lie to Lili of all people. As open as she is, as much of a willing listener as she is, Lili seems to find truth both common sense and common courtesy. Unfortunately, this means even white lies told to make someone feel better will often fall flat, assuming someone is not willing to take such small fibs and will become angry if they have been detected. Overall, lying is something she avoids and cannot be caught in. Her selflessness could potentially be damaging to her well-being. She views herself as very small, and seeks to better those she loves at the cost of herself. When such feelings emerge Lili tends to attach herself to people out of love and affection and a desire to make themselves and their lives just a little bit better. Perhaps sometimes this doesn't always work according to plan. After all, a girl who never leaves your presence is bound to become annoying after a while. In such cases when told she will politely bow out, unwilling to upset people any further than she already has. Lili's loyalty, once obtained, is something one cannot be easily rid of. Nor is it often granted, for it is something Lili gives to the people she cherishes most above all others. Obviously this loyalty is granted first to family, and beyond that the most special and precious of all her friends. This loyalty guarantees that she will be by one's side no matter what adversity one will come across, and she will always have the backs of those she loves. Her support, however trivial or menial it may seem, she will never fail to give. Her loyalty can be challenged by fights between two or more of those best friends, situations in which she will normally sit herself aside as a neutral party. Unable to make a choice between two people important to her, Lili would much rather be uninvolved with the fighting and play peacemaker later. For those who manage to obtain her unfaltering loyalty, they will likely be exposed to that famed Zwingli protectiveness that she, as her brother, can exhibit. She is not a fighter, not by any stretch of the word. Small, physically weak, and about as far from intimidating as any person could ever be, Lili is one of the last people anyone would look to as a shield from danger. Regardless of whether they ask for it or not, Lili can display incredible bravery when the lives of those she cares about are on the line. She may not be a weapon, but when danger nears she will do all she can to protect her dearest friends and family, even at the cost of her own life. Though her sacrifice is not a guarantee, she refuses to sit idly by when her efforts might mean the difference between life and death. |

Flowers – Lili loves just about every flower, and she researches them often. She loves to learn about them, lilies especially. They are, after all, the flowers she was named after. Flowers somehow seem to always make their way into her hobbies, and if she isn't arranging flowers into bouquets or other forms of decoration, she's embroidering their designs into various clothes. Smell of Fresh Pastries – Because honestly, who doesn’t? Fresh bread and pastries are a delight for her, and when passing by bakeries on the street she can never resist buying something for herself and her brother. Embroidery – An art she learned from her mother. Embroidery is a relaxing past-time for Lili, which she mostly does in quiet. This is also a time of remembrance for her, as she quietly recalls her parents. If it's a particularly quiet or slow day and she happens to actually have nothing to do, she can be found huddled up somewhere working on one of many projects. Reading – Lili is opposite Vash in her love of fairy tales and fantasy. They are her favorite genre of book, and some stories she’ll read over and over. Although given little evidence to prove it, Lili is convinced, perhaps naively, there is some kind of magic in the world and if people believe hard enough they will see it. She’s merely concluded she doesn’t believe as much as she could. Her favorite fairy tale is Rapunzel. Animals – There are a few exceptions to her general love of animals, such as rats or spiders or certain other creepy-crawlies (This girl even likes snakes!) When Lili was younger, she'd often surprise (and anger) her parents by bringing home wild animals she found in the forest or fields. In her defense, many of them were injured and she couldn't leave an animal to die alone without feeling guilty. Recently she has developed a powerful fondness for gerbils, but she loves pretty much every animal. Please expect her to pet every animal. Listening / Stories - Lili never tires of hearing people tell her things about themselves and will listen with all of her attention. This goes double if they're telling her a particularly interesting story, but Lili doesn't pick and choose favorites. People are books, and she has a knack for opening them in such a way that they might divulge what they know or what they are. On the flip-side, she loves telling stories of her own, and can easily talk the ears off of an unprepared audience. Smiles - Especially the ones she brings to people's faces. Lili gets a lot of joy out of being able to cheer people up if they feel down, and the smiles she receives for her efforts are wonderful prizes. Rain - Rain is a natural lullaby that helps her sleep at night. It gives live to plants and animals, it cleanses the earth, and makes the sky blue. Given such importance and beauty, how can she not appreciate rain for all the good it does? To people who complain about the rain, she will merely nod her head and smile as if she understands their dislike, but she really doesn't. Complements - Not in the sense of words one might shower upon her in admiration, for such things only make her blush! No, Lili finds a great deal of enjoyment in things that complete each other, or make things seem perfect. Things that complete each other are poetic like that, and she likes that in nature. This applies especially in colors. Red and green, orange and purple, yellow and blue… Piano – When she was much younger and her parents were trying to find a niche of talent to fit her into, Lili was subjected to piano lessons—and she enjoyed it! When things are too quiet around her home Lili will often play the piano, depending on her mood. Otherwise she just plays music from a stereo. She’s not professional by any means, but she enjoys playing and considers it one of her many important hobbies. When she plays music to stave off silence, it's often piano. | Rude People – Hate for Lili is often too strong a word. There aren’t many things that make her seethe or boil. Rude people are definitely on the list, though. As someone that tries to be kind to whomever she meets, she can’t stand watching people mistreat others for no reason. She will allow herself to be treated rudely to a certain extent, but she will defend herself if she is pushed to the brink. She will also step in on behalf of another person if it becomes clear they cannot defend themselves. Small dogs –They tend to get very yippy, and though Lili doesn't mind a little noise, she finds that small dogs are a little too talkative for her liking. As long as she doesn't have to own them, she's perfectly fine, but please if you have a small dog make sure they are trained and don't bark a lot! Weeds - She's a natural florist, does this really need any explanation? It goes without saying that most weeds are vile in a garden environment, and though Lili's love for plant life is hardly matched, such invaders must be removed from her gardens! ... and perhaps gently placed elsewhere. Some weeds she is okay with having around - specifically dandelions - but that's about the only exception she can make for the pests! Violence – Though herself being trained in self-defense by Vash, Lili is very hesitant to use anything she’s learned on another person. She dislikes violence and people getting hurt, enough to possibly intervene on a helpless person’s behalf and reprimand the assailant. Unfortunately, her sweet exterior means few people will take her seriously. Could she actually defend herself if it came down to it? Who knows, she's never actually laid a finger on someone else. Required Reading – Lili learned a while ago that reading becomes a chore when it’s a requirement and always found it weird (and slightly amusing) that textbooks only became interesting when she read them at her own whim. This never really helped her much in school, because more often than not she would read assigned materials long after her exams on the subject matter were finished. Disorder – Lili is a very clean and organized person. She does not like clutter and she does not like messes. She will correct messes as she sees them and tries her best to never make any herself. It seems to particularly irritate her in the store environment when people take items from shelves and then get ride of them in an entirely different part of the store. If one cannot buy an item, why not siply return it back to where one got it? Over-sweetened Things - Lili enjoys sweets as much as the next person, but everyone has their limit. In particular, this applies heavily to the things she drinks. She isn't a huge fan of soft drinks, and her teas and coffees are sweetened almost minimally. Conversely, she loves sweet breads, icings, and fillings, and will gratefully indulge in such treats. Dissonance - In sound and especially in color. She's very orderly and organized, so to Lili there is a certain way things must be done and arranged in order to be appealing. If the pattern is broken, Lili must set out to fix it. Such things are distracting to her, and many times she will drop her current duty to reorganize or fix whatever is causing the disruption. Not to mention clashing noises are painful to listen to. Ticks - Those itty bitty nasty bugs that infest animals and make them sick! Lili hates those little devils with a burning passion, and her dislike of them is surpassed only by her fear of spiders. She's a little paranoid that they might jump off of an animal and onto her, but she has to remind herself that those are fleas, and she doesn't mind those too much. |
Fears |
Spiders – Lili is a major arachnophobe. She does not like spiders at all. It does not matter how small it is, whether or not it’s harmless, or what species. If it is a spider, she will be afraid of it, and most likely not go anywhere near the object upon which it is perched. This presents an obstacle if it happens to be sitting on a door. Silence – There has to be noise. Lili cannot stand the anxiety that comes with complete silence, because usually if things are too quiet something bad is about to happen. Silence in itself is often paired with negatives, and thus to Lili it has a very undesirable quality to it. Even when quietly working on her embroidery, she will play soft music to relieve the tension. Mirrors at Night - This is a bit of an odd one, but she can't quite help it. A few years ago she made the mistake of watching a rather frightening supernatural video at night, in which a demonic figure appeared in a mirror to stare back at someone. Ever since watching that, she can't really stand to be around mirrors in dark rooms, just in case that actually happens. |
BACKSTORY |
Lili had the distinct honor of being born abroad in Liechtenstein after a vacation went terribly awry. With her older brother, mother, and father all locked together in a car, a stray bump since the very pregnant women into labor and some twelve hours later Lili was finally introduced to the world. This was all fine and dandy, her mother being from Liechtenstein herself and visiting her family, coincidentally bringing Lili to the same country her mother came from. The family she grew up with, two parents and an older brother, were just about as normal as any other family. Lili remembers very fondly her years as a young girl, shadowing her brother to the point of near perfect mimicry. If she wasn't cutting her hair to match his hairstyle, she was stealing his clothes and attempting to wear them - all to his distress. Regardless the two got along great and he became a pillar of support for her, especially in the following years when the family ended up moving to Alms Island. The change dealt a brutal blow to her social life, having taken her out of the lifestyle she was comfortable with and throwing her in with a bunch of other students, many of whom saw her as an outside. In this tiny island, many of the students had been going to the same schools together and all knew each other. Lili immersed herself in school clubs to try and alleviate the growing loneliness. Maybe of her hobbies had alternatives in the school, many clubs allowed busy work. She managed to revive her ailing need for friendships, and with her graduation fast approaching, she can only hope that things will continue to get better for her in university. |
