How Does This Crap Work? |
It all begins with the extra. To be blunt, even the dead student will not know it is them. This is to emulate the anime in that the extra is absolutely convinced it is not them, or at least suspects it is them (along with all the other students.) The reason for this is to prevent the answer to the mystery from slipping. RPing blind is easier than trying to enforce ignorance. Only the staff will know who the extra is (for the sake of planning out character deaths better.) The extra will be randomized from the roster. If the extra drops, it will be randomized a second time. |
How do you organize character deaths? |
Much like the randomization of the extra student, the rest of the characters are chosen per month for being killed. Students are first given a random number through a list generator, and then of those numbers a random handful are chosen. There will be no favorites played and no one will be picked on. Every death is absolutely randomized, but the brutality of such deaths are up to the staff member using the Hand of Fate account. |
How are the deaths stopped? |
A single condition must be fulfilled in order to stop the deaths and win the game: you must find the extra student, and then kill them. Return the dead back to death. Because only the staff know who the dead one is, this is a rather complicated process that will require careful planning on our part, and teamwork on yours. You will have to suspect everyone around you (including yourself,) but be willing to seek out the extra in order to save everyone. Keep in mind that you don't get a special prize for being the one to figure it out and go kill the extra. This is a team effort and if one of you wins, then you all win. Don't go looking for glory. You won't get it-- not alone. The staff will drop clues in their posts as certain characters, but you do have to know who to ask in order to find what clues they leave behind. It is suggested that you follow as many linear threads as possible in order to see everything the staff writes. It will require careful thinking and cleverness, but if the students work together, it is possible. Alternatively, it is possible for the staff to win. The extra will always be the last to die. Even if all the other students are killed before them, the extra will eventually die as well, if not by the hands of a student then by the Hand of Fate. |
You've capped muses per person at one? |
Because we have to cap the number of characters per round since we won't have non-3-3 students in the school (they will be NPCs) and we can only have a certain number of members of a class anyway, we decided to cap the count at one muse per person. There are plenty of people who would gladly take 5 or 6 if we let them, but six muses is a large chunk of our total cap. We want as many people to join us as if possible, and we also don't want to strain people with too many muses for such a fast-paced plot line. However, to hopefully remedy the fact people will likely want to play more than one muse, players are only allowed to have a specific muse for up to two full rounds of the game, a number which may or may not change depending on round length. After a round of break period, you ARE allowed to reserve the muse again should you so desire, but you'll be subjected to the limit once again. Also, keeping in mind that someone might reserve that muse while you're on break and you will have to wait for the person to drop the muse after their limit is up. Many people will likely be playing a different muse each round. We don't require all muse names to be different as we will be archiving that year and cleaning the board, as well as listing who played who for that year. Often we will allow someone to reserve a spot ahead of time but that doesn't guarantee them a spot in the final roster unless they complete the app on time and submit it. Because this is capped, applying is a first-come-first-serve basis. If you miss applying in time to squeeze into the cap, then you will have to wait for the next round. However, with 25 open positions for 25 different people, we hope this will not be too great an issue. |
